Visually exploring Newcastle city centre
Mike, Andrew, Matt, and Liam spent the day with our documentary film-makers John Faulkner and Jim Newrick in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
We started the day in the classroom by understanding the history of photography, including how cameras function and what they enable us to do. After this, we explored Newcastle city centre and walked through some of its most historic places. As part of this, we studied the city’s architecture as we spent time outside the former police building at Pilgrim Street, as well as the 55 Degrees North building amongst others. This involved each of us gathering visual data on some of the unique aspects and features of these buildings. Some of the images we collected on the day can be seen in the Gallery section of this website. Above all, these images show how we individually focused on different aspects of the buildings
